Steady Register Privacy Policy
Last updated 14 October 2026
Steady Register does not collect your personal information. There is no account to create, no bank to log in to, no server to sync with, and no copy of your register that we can read — because we never receive one.
This policy covers Steady Register, the checkbook register for iOS and Android published by Onyx One LLC.
What stays on your device
Everything you enter. Specifically:
- Your accounts: their names, types and starting balances.
- Your register entries: dates, amounts, payees, categories, memos, check numbers and cleared status.
- Your repeating entries, reconciliation history, and settings.
All of it is held in a database in the app's own storage on your phone. None of it is transmitted to us or to anyone else. The app never connects to your bank and never asks for a bank login. If you delete the app, its data goes with it, and we cannot recover it for you — not as a policy, but because we never had a copy. The backup features below exist so that you can keep your own.
Automatic backups on your phone
Each day you use the app, it saves a copy of your register in its own storage on your phone, keeping recent days and one copy a month for six months. These copies never leave the app's storage, except as part of your phone's own device backup (iCloud Backup on iPhone, Google's device backup on Android) if you have that turned on. That backup is run by Apple or Google under your account and their privacy policies; we have no access to it.
Backup files and exports
You can save your register to a backup file, and export a date range as a CSV spreadsheet or a PDF. The app makes the file on your device and hands it to your phone's own share sheet; you choose where it goes — Files, a cloud drive you use, an email to yourself, a printer. The app does not upload it anywhere. These files contain your financial entries, so keep them somewhere you trust. A file you store with another service is covered by that service's privacy policy.
App lock
If you turn on the app lock, your phone checks your Face ID, fingerprint or passcode itself and tells the app only whether it succeeded. The app never receives or stores any biometric data.
What we do not do
- We do not collect analytics or usage statistics.
- We do not use advertising identifiers. The app contains no ads.
- We do not use third-party tracking, attribution, or marketing SDKs.
- We do not sell, rent, or share personal information, because we do not hold any.
- The app does not link to bank accounts and does not use services such as Plaid.
- The app does not read your contacts, your location, your photos, or your calendar.
Purchases
On iPhone, Steady Register is a paid download: Apple handles the payment and the app makes no purchase-related connection of its own.
On Android, the app is free to download and offers a one-time purchase to unlock more features. It is not a subscription. Google handles the payment — we never see your card details, billing address, or payment method. We use RevenueCat to check that a purchase is valid and to restore it if you reinstall or change phone. For that, RevenueCat receives an anonymous, randomly generated identifier for your installation together with the purchase receipt Google issues. It does not receive your name, your email address, or anything in your register.

Notifications
If you set reminders for repeating bills or paychecks, they are scheduled as local notifications on your device. The app generates them itself; they are not sent through any push server, so no message and no amount ever leaves your phone. You can turn them off in the app or in your phone's settings.
Children
The app is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone — including children — because we do not collect information at all.
Your rights
Laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, export, and delete personal data a company holds about you. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to produce or erase.
Your data is already entirely in your possession: it is on your phone. You can view and change it in the app, export your own copy with the backup and export features, and delete it by deleting accounts in the app or deleting the app itself.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date at the top. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
